Accessibility
A church for everyone.
We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology. Here's where we stand and how to reach us.

Our commitment
We aim for this website to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA where we control the content and code. WCAG 2.2 is backward-compatible with WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, and we also aim to follow the spirit of Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Accessibility is part of how we build and maintain this site, not an afterthought.
What we've done
- Clear heading structure and landmarks so screen readers can navigate quickly.
- Full keyboard support, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
- Colour and text chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast on both light and dark sections.
- Descriptive labels for buttons, links, and form fields, with errors announced.
- Respect for the “reduce motion” setting — animations are minimised when you ask.
- A “skip to content” link and a responsive layout that works on phones and zoom.
- Automated accessibility checks in our test suite for every public route.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is never “finished.” We run automated checks across the public pages and keep improving as content changes. Automated tests cannot catch every barrier, so we also rely on real feedback from people using different devices, browsers, zoom levels, keyboards, and assistive technologies.
Some third-party content we link to or embed, such as maps, calendars, YouTube videos, and Facebook live video, may not fully meet these standards or may change outside our control. We try not to rely on those embeds as the only way to get important information: service times, address, directions, contact details, and ways to watch are also provided as text or links. If an embed is not usable for you, contact us and we'll provide the information another way.
Visiting in person
This statement is about the website. If you have an accessibility need for an in-person gathering — seating, step-free access, language support, sensory needs, or anything else — please contact us before you come. We'll listen, confirm what is available, and do our best to help you participate.
Hit a barrier? Tell us
If anything on this site is hard to use, or you need information in another format, we want to know — and we'll help. Tell us what page or feature caused trouble, what you were trying to do, and what format or support would work better for you. Email team@dmitoronto.ca or call +1 416-731-3113, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
