Plain-language details on what we collect through this site, why, and the choices you have.

Who this applies to
This policy explains how Destiny Ministries International — Toronto(“DMI Toronto,” “we,” “us”) handles personal information collected through this website. We aim to follow Canadian fair-information principles reflected in privacy law, including accountability, clear purposes, meaningful consent, limited collection and retention, safeguards, access and correction, and a way to raise concerns.
What we collect
When you fill out a form on this site, we collect what you choose to share: your name and email, and optionally a phone number, a team interest, and your message. When you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address. To protect the site from spam and abuse, we briefly process request information such as IP address for rate-limiting and security — not to identify you. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We use privacy-respecting analytics (Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights) to understand site performance and usage in aggregate.
Embedded video
To watch sermons and our Sunday live service, this site can embed video from YouTube and Facebook. We load these privacy-first: nothing is requested from YouTube or Facebook until you tap play (YouTube is loaded in its privacy-enhanced no-cookie mode). If you choose to play a video, content then loads from that provider, which may set its own cookies and receive your device and connection details, governed by their privacy policies (Google/YouTube and Meta/Facebook). If you don't play a video, nothing is shared with them.
Maps, calendars, sharing, and external links
The site includes links to services such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, Google Calendar, YouTube, Facebook, email, phone, text messaging, and social sharing tools. Some features open a provider page or your device's own share, mail, phone, calendar, or maps app. When you choose one of those actions, that provider or app may receive information such as the page you opened, your device details, and your IP address, under its own privacy policy. The interactive map and video embeds are kept lightweight, but third-party content may still process data once it loads or once you interact with it.
AI assistant
This site offers an optional AI assistant (“Ask DMI Toronto”) that answers questions about the church. When you send it a message, your question is processed by third-party AI providers (currently OpenRouter and, as a fallback, Google) to generate a reply, on servers that may be outside Canada and subject to those providers' terms — and some free AI models may retain prompts to improve their service. If you use the optional voice-input button, your speech is transcribed by your browser or device's built-in speech service. The assistant only uses publicly available church information to answer; please don't share sensitive personal details with it. We don't use the chat to identify you, and we don't store your conversation in our own database. For anything that needs follow-up (like a prayer request), it will point you to our contact form so a real person can help. If a message appears to signal an immediate safety crisis, the site shows public emergency resources and may log limited technical metadata (such as an IP-address hash, page, and message length) to confirm the safety protocol ran; we do not log the crisis message text. Answers are AI-generated and may be imperfect.
How we use it
We use your information only to respond to you, follow up about a visit or a way to serve, welcome you to the church, and — if you asked for them — send occasional email updates. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
How it's handled and shared
Form submissions are delivered to our team by email through Resend (resend.com), a third-party email provider. Resend processes this data on servers in the United States, so your information is transferred to and processed outside Canada and may be subject to U.S. law. For abuse protection, request IP addresses may also be processed by Upstash (upstash.com), a rate-limiting provider whose servers may be outside Canada if that service is configured. The site is hosted and monitored using providers such as Vercel. We share your information only with service providers like these, as needed to operate the site and respond to you.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and related email replies only as long as needed to respond, follow up, and keep appropriate ministry records. Newsletter emails are kept until you ask to be removed. Rate-limit records are temporary and used only to protect the site. AI chat messages are not kept in our own database, though third-party AI providers may retain prompts under their own terms. You can ask us to delete or correct information we hold about you at any time.
Your choices and rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, withdraw your consent, or have it deleted. If you receive email updates, you can ask us to remove you from the list at any time; unsubscribe requests will be honoured promptly. Until a dedicated email list provider with one-click unsubscribe is configured, email us at team@dmitoronto.ca and we'll take care of it.
Children
This website is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site, and the AI assistant is instructed not to collect or discuss information about a specific child. If a child has submitted information, a parent or guardian can contact us to have it removed.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; the date above reflects the latest version. Questions about your privacy? Email team@dmitoronto.ca or write to us at 1530 Birchmount Rd, Unit 3, Scarborough, ON M1P 2H2.
